Have you ever rode a mountain bike over 50 miles at an altitude of nearly 10,000 feet? Skyline Drive from Fairview to Mayfield has breathtaking views that will Expand your outlook on life. The Skyline Drive area offers single or multi-day adventures.

Be prepared for all types of weather. High elevation; to over 11,000 feet. Vehicle support is recommended. Rating: easy to difficult. Mostly a good dirt road, but there are sections that are worn and rutted from weather and use.
The Skyline Drive Mountain Bike Trail begins 13 miles east of Fairview on Hwy 31, south of the Sanpete Valley overlook. It traces the central backbone of the plateau south all the way to Twelve Mile (Mayfield) Canyon. National Forest Campgrounds can be found all throughout the area. You can access the Skyline Drive from Fairview, Mt. Pleasant, Spring City, Ephraim, Manti, Sterling, and Mayfield Canyons. (see interactive map above)
Sanpete is also a great place to ATV, Rock Climb, Hunt, Fish, Horseback Ride, Golf, Snowkite, and Snowmobile.
Primitive backcountry camping is allowed in the National Forest so find a nice location in a grove of trees and set up camp.
To access the Pioneer Mountain Bike Trail, drive or ride up Ephraim Canyon road approximately 7 miles from Highway 89. Continue about half a mile past Lake Hill Campground and you will see a dirt road on the left-hand side of the canyon road. This is a great place to unload if you have chosen to drive. From here it is approximately 3/4 mile decent on a primitive road. You will then see a small sign on the left that says Pioneer Trail. Turn left here and you are on 3 miles of single-track. When the single-track ends you will be back on the canyon road and you can continue to town on the main road or cut off and ride another 3 1/2 miles of single-track on the famous “Flume” trail. To access the Flume Moutain Bike Trail, drive or ride up Ephraim Canyon road approximately 3 3/4 miles. Turn right off the canyon road by an A-Frame cabin. This is a good place to unload if you drive. Follow the road to the right a short distance and you will cross another dirt road. Once you cross this road, you will see an old canal, turn here. The trail stays on the sidehill and follows the dry canal; it then descends to Gordon’s Farm and then on to town. Once on the canal, it is all single-track and there are no roads to get lost on. Sanpete County will host bicycle racing enthusiasts from across Utah in the third annual Sanpete Classic Bicycle Race. Cyclists of all ages will compete in 46,75,and 102-mile races on courses that wind through the local countryside. This course offers rolling hills and beautiful scenery, all without a lot of automobile traffic. The somewhat quiet Main Street of Spring City also provides a great location to see each of the categories battle it out or bragging rights and prizes. The race features categories for men, women, juniors 17 or younger, and master-level competitors.
